Prim Snoballs
Wednesday, November 14, 2007

Okay....I decided to try my hand at making these adorable little prim balls. I had done some research and found several "recipes" for making them. I went to town, bought the "stuff" and when I got home....the "stuff" sat there for two weeks! So finally, Monday night I decided it was snoball making time. I got out my styrofoam balls, joint compound, and foil. I just reached into the compound and covered and rolled my snoballs. Let them dry overnight on the foil. When I woke up, most of them were cracked. Don't know why, but I'm sure it probably had something to do with the fact that I didn't stir my compound--a fact I remembered as I read the directions again this morning. DUH....anyway...I think they are cute, cracks and all. I used some watered down stain medium and grubbied up a few. Then I painted a few of them off white and dunked them in some mica. I like the sparkly ones :) One set of directions I had read said to sand them a bit. I didn't do that either. I think I'll try next time to actually follow the "Recipe". Nothing ventured, nothing gained!
